The Nashville Area Psychological Association is the regional psychological affiliate of the Tennessee Psychological Association, and as such provides professional education and support for all psychologists, psychological examiners, and others interested in the art and science of psychology who live or work in the Nashville area.  Membership or associate membership in NAPA is available to any professional who supports the goals and principals of NAPA as described in the organization by-laws, who agrees to abide by the ethical principals required for membership, and who maintains the required dues payment on a yearly basis.

Any individual interested in joining NAPA may obtain an application form on this web site or from any officer of the organization.  Once the form is completed and submitted with the appropriate fee, the application is reviewed by the Executive Board of NAPA and a decision on membership is made.  As stated, many benefits will then become available to the new member, including sharing in providing important input into the agenda and decisions of the Tennessee Psychological Association, access to informative APA-accredited continuing education programs, and opportunities for developing and maintaining professional and personal relationships with fellow psychologists and other interested professionals.

Regular Membership - $40.00

- Confers all benefits and responsibilities of full membership in NAPA

- Membership Criteria (one of the following):

• Member of APA

• Member of TPA

• Hold a Postgraduate degree in the field of Psychology from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Hold a certificate or license issued by the Tennessee State Dept of Education.

• Hold a valid license issued by the State of Tennessee to practice psychology as a psychological examiner or psychologist.

Sustaining Membership - $80.00

- All benefits of Regular Membership coupled with additional recognition for contributing added financial support to NAPA

- Membership Criteria:

• Meets the requirements for any of the other membership categories.

• Assists NAPA financially with the designated dues amount.

Associate Membership - $20.00 (Non-student); $10.00 (Student)

- Students and professionals with training outside the field of psychology and confers all benefits and responsibilities except voting rights

- Membership Criteria:

• Be a student in a graduate program in the field of psychology OR

• Be a professional in the field of psychology or a closely related field dealing with human services OR

• Be working in a psychology area after having two years of graduate work in a regionally accredited college or university.

Retired Membership - No fee

- All benefits and responsibilities for retired psychological professionals

- Membership Criteria:

• Submit in writing a request for retired membership status.

• Be of age 65 or older, and have worked as a psychologist, psychological examiner or professional in a related field for three years prior to retirement.

Honorary Membership - No fee

- All benefits and responsibilities except voting rights

- Membership Criteria:

• Meets the requirements for any of the above membership categories, and is elected by the Membership Committee and the Executive Board to be an Honorary NAPA member for one year.
